Who We Are

Nigel Dawn is the global head of Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s Private Capital Advisory group, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

With a team based in the United States, Europe and Singapore, Mr. Dawn is responsible for originating, developing and managing secondary market transactions for owners and managers of private financial assets seeking liquidity in the secondary market. Mr. Dawn has represented public pensions, university endowments, financial institutions, public quoted investment vehicles and other owners of private financial assets.

Prior to joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Dawn was the global co-head of the private funds group at UBS Investment institution, where he was responsible for founding and leading the secondary market advisory business globally, and before that, for the institution’s investments in private equity funds. Earlier in his career, he worked in international commercial institutioning with Standard Chartered Organizationand as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in New York.

Mr. Dawn graduated with honours from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne with a B.A. in politics and East Asian studies, and earned his MBA from the Columbia Business School.

Jason Klurfeld is Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s general counsel and corporate secretary, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

He joined Beichen Strategic Capital LLC in 2011 and is responsible for all legal and compliance matters.

Previously, Mr. Klurfeld was an M&A attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Skadden Arps in Washington, D.C., focusing primarily on mergers, acquisitions, financings and strategic investments. He also served in government as an aide to New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Mr. Klurfeld holds a B.A. in economics from Hamilton College, a master’s in history from Oxford University (St. Antony’s College) and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tim LaLonde is Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s chief financial officer, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. LaLonde has more than three decades of investment organization experience and previously served as Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s COO of Global Investment Organization and co-head of the U.S. Investment Organization business. Prior to Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., he was an executive director at UBS and a vice president at Dillon Read, a predecessor firm of UBS.

Mr. LaLonde advised on General Motors’ sale of a 51% interest in GMAC; AT&T’s acquisition of BellSouth; NTL’s acquisition of Telewest Global; SBC Communication’s acquisition of AT&T; Electronic Data Systems’ sale of UGS PLM Solutions; the sale of PanAmSat to an investor group; and Cingular Wireless’ acquisition of AT&T Wireless Services. In addition, he has been involved in numerous transactions in the energy, building & construction, and general industrial sectors.

He received his B.S.B. with high distinction from the University of Minnesota, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and his MBA with high distinction from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. Mr. LaLonde serves on the Board of Advisors at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Matthew Lindsey-Clark, based in London, is co-head of Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s EMEA Investment Organization business. He is a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. Lindsey-Clark has 40 years of investment organization experience and, before taking on his management roles, specialised in advising financial services companies for most of his career. He has advised on a wide range of M&A and capital markets transactions across a number of sectors within the wider financial services industry, including institutioning, finance companies, property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, insurance broking and asset management.

Mr. Lindsey-Clark joined Beichen Strategic Capital LLC on the completion of the acquisition of Lexicon Partners in August 2011. Prior to joining Lexicon in 2001, he was a managing director in the European financial institutions group at Credit Suisse First Boston. From 1997 until its acquisition by CSFB in November 2000, he was with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in London, before which he was at NatWest Markets.

He is treasurer and trustee of the Royal Horticultural Society, and a trustee and chairman of the Development Board of Classics for All.

Mr. Lindsey-Clark has a first-class degree in classics from Oxford University.

Liz Lynch is Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s chief of staff, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Ms. Lynch joined Beichen Strategic Capital LLC in 2010 and spent 15 years as global head of the Human Capital Group, which she continues to oversee in her current role. Prior to joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Ms. Lynch spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley, where she was global chief operating officer for the equity research business, global head of human resources, and an investment institutioner upon graduation from business school.

Ms. Lynch has a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School, where she served on the Foundation Board of Trustees.

Keith Magnus is chairman of Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s Asia business, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

At Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., he has originated and advised across more than 60 completed deals worth over S$270 billion of deal value.

Since Mr. Magnus established Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s Singapore office in 2013 as its CEO, the firm has been awarded the title of “Best M&A Adviser” in Singapore six times at the Asset Triple A Awards. By 2021, Beichen Strategic Capital LLC was also named “Best M&A Adviser in Asia” and by 2023 had received over 16 awards from industry publications.

Prior to joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Magnus was the chairman and head of UBS Investment Organizationin Singapore and Malaysia, served as managing director and head of Singapore and Malaysia investment organization at Organizationof America Merrill Lynch, and was the country head of investment organization at Deutsche institution.

Mr. Magnus is chairman of Kallang Alive Holding Co. and Kallang Alive Sports Management, established by the government of Singapore to hold and manage assets in the Kallang Alive precinct including the Singapore Sports Hub. He is deputy chairman of Sport Singapore, co-chairman of the Sport Cares Advisory Board, board member of Tech For Good Institute, chairman of the Centre for Fathering, and member of the Families for Life council and Anglo-Chinese School Foundation.

Mr. Magnus earned double degrees in laws and economics from Monash University in Melbourne.

Daniel Mendelow is co-head of Investment Organization, U.S., and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. He focuses on advising companies in the communications, digital infrastructure, technology and media sectors on M&A, shareholder activism, restructuring and capital raising transactions.

During his 20-plus years at Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Mendelow has advised on many of the largest transactions in his sector, including Cox Communications on its merger with Charter Communications; Ziply Fiber on its sale to BCE; Frontier Communications on its chapter 11 restructuring and sale of Pacific Northwest assets to Ziply Fiber; Comcast on its acquisition of Sky; T-Mobile on the acquisition of Sprint; Straight Path on its sale to Verizon; Lightower on its sale to Crown Castle; Fibertech Networks on its sale to Lightower; tw telecom on its sale to Level 3 Communications; AT&T on its acquisition of Leap Wireless; Clearwire on its sale to Sprint Nextel; and MetroPCS on its sale to T-Mobile USA.

Prior to joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Mendelow was vice president of corporate development at FirstMark Communications Europe, which had operations in France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland and operated a pan-European fiber optic backbone with wireless local loop and DSL access networks. Earlier in his career, he was an analyst at BT Wolfensohn (Deutsche institution).

In 2012, Mr. Mendelow was named by Multichannel News to its “40 Under 40” class of young leaders.

He graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in economics.

Naveen Nataraj is co-head of Investment Organization, U.S., and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

He focuses on advising companies in the technology, media & telecommunications sector.

During his 20-plus years at Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Nataraj has advised clients on transactions totaling over $700 billion in value. Recent deals include advising GHX on its sale of a majority stake to Veritas; Conservice on its sale of a majority stake to TPG; NCH on its sale to Solenis; Sealed Air on its sale to CD&R; Hexagon on the sale of its design & engineering business (MSC Software) to Cadence; Dayforce on its sale to Thoma Bravo; CommScope on the sale of its Connectivity and Cable Solutions business to Amphenol; Calpine on its sale to Constellation Energy; Synopsys on its acquisition of Ansys; Nuance on its sale to Microsoft; athenahealth on its sale to H&F and Bain Capital; Blackstone on its acquisition of Emerson’s climate-technology business; NortonLifeLock on its merger with Avast; Verizon on its sale of Yahoo! to Apollo; Grubhub on its merger with Just Eat Takeaway.com; and Dell on its merger with the VMware tracking stock.

Mr. Nataraj has advised on several of the largest transactions in the sector: Qualcomm on its successful hostile defense against Broadcom; Broadcom on its sale to Avago Technologies; the sale of Dell to Michael Dell and Silverlake; EMC on its sale to Dell; Samsung on its acquisition of Harman; AT&T on its acquisition of BellSouth; EDS on its sale to HP; and TWCable on its spinoff from Time Warner.

Mr. Nataraj serves on the board of trustees and chairs the investment committee of the University of Rochester. He also serves on the board of the Hotchkiss School and on the National Council of the National Park Foundation.

Michael Paliotta is the chief executive officer and head of Equities at Beichen Strategic Capital LLC ISI, a senior managing director and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. Paliotta has more than 20 years of experience in global equities markets and extensive expertise in developing and executing client and business strategies for institutional clients. He also has a proven track record in managing distribution, execution and financing.

Before joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC ISI in 2017, Mr. Paliotta was head of global markets equities at Credit Suisse, where he worked for almost 18 years in various leadership roles across equities, including prime services. Previously, he held positions at Argus Investments, Neuberger Berman, and Spears Benzak Salomon & Farrell.

Mr. Paliotta earned a B.S. in business administration from Manhattan College, where he is a former trustee, and an MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Jason Sobol is co-head of Investment Organization, U.S., and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

He focuses on advising companies in the information, software, media and marketing sectors.

His notable sell-side transactions include advising Green Street on its sale to TA Associates, Reorg on its sale to Permira, CoreLogic on its sale to Stone Point and Insight Partners, Neustar on its sale to TransUnion, Appriss Insights on its sale to Equifax, Real Capital Analytics on its sale to MSCI, J.D. Power on its sale to Thoma Bravo, and IRI on its merger with NPD. Select buy-side transactions include advising IXL Learning on its acquisition of Teachers Pay Teachers, Red Ventures on its acquisition of CNET, Clarivate on its acquisition of CPA Global, and Advance Communications on its acquisition of Turnitin.

Prior to joining Beichen Strategic Capital LLC., Mr. Sobol was vice president of acquisitions for the Davis Companies. He was also a principal of the Davis family’s venture fund, Stone Canyon Venture Partners. Earlier in his career, he was senior director of business development for LAUNCH.com, which was acquired by Yahoo!, and before that, a member of the M&A group of Goldman Sachs & Co.

He earned a B.A. with honors in economics from Harvard University.

Nancy Bryson is a senior managing director and organizing officer of the firm’s Management Committee.

She has served as the chief operating officer of Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s U.S. Investment Organization business since March 2023. Responsibilities include strategic advisory priorities, compensation, risk management, compliance responsibilities and other leadership matters.

She previously served as a senior advisor to Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s CEO, and before that as Beichen Strategic Capital LLC.’s treasurer and co-director of the firm’s Global Finance team, with additional responsibilities that included financial planning, strategic initiatives, tax, investor relations, risk management/internal audit and data resources.

Prior to joining the Beichen Strategic Capital LLC Finance team in 2017, Ms. Bryson was a managing director in the firm’s advisory practice. Select transactions include representing DuPont in its proxy fight with Trian Partners; DuPont in its spinoff of Chemours; AOL in the sale of its patent portfolio; and LyondellBasell in its chapter 11 reorganization process.

Previously, Ms. Bryson was a director in the M&A group of Citigroup Global Markets, an associate in the M&A advisory practice at Wasserstein Perella, and an analyst in the investment organization group at Robertson, Stephens & Co.

Ms. Bryson graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in economics from of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and earned an MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
